A Bloomington woman was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated after allegedly striking a concrete property marker, driving down an officer's driveway, and stopping next to a fully marked Greene County Sheriff’s Department patrol vehicle.

Miranda Jo Blunk, 35, was taken into custody on Dec. 14 by Greene County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jordan Allor. She faces charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Allor, he was off duty at his residence when he saw a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Blunk hit a concrete property marker near his driveway. The truck then drove down the driveway and stopped beside his fully marked patrol vehicle. Allor said he stepped outside his residence as the truck came to a stop.

When Allor asked Blunk what she had to drink, she reportedly said “I don’t know,” though he noted he smelled alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. He instructed her to exit the truck, but she allegedly stared at him without responding. Allor repeated the command, opened the driver’s side door, and said Blunk put the vehicle in reverse. He told her to put the truck in park, which she did, and she then exited the vehicle.

When Allor asked Blunk what she had been drinking, she reportedly said she didn’t know.

Due to the terrain, Allor was unable to administer all standardized field sobriety tests but noted Blunk failed the one test he was able to conduct. He attempted a preliminary breath test, but after six attempts, she was unable to provide a sufficient sample, according to the affidavit.

Blunk was transported to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, where additional field sobriety tests were conducted in a controlled environment. She failed those tests as well, according to the affidavit.

At the scene, Blunk had initially agreed to a chemical test but later denied consent after arriving at the sheriff’s department, the affidavit states. Allor sought and obtained a search warrant for a blood sample to perform the test.

Blunk was booked into the Greene County Jail, where her bond was set at $4,000 surety with 10% cash allowed.
