Bloomfield woman on probation arrested last week during a home visit

When her probation officer and community corrections officers arrived for a home visit and found a meth pipe under the bathroom sink, with a juvenile present, DCS was called and the woman was arrested for meth and child neglect.

Melanie Sue Hash

Melanie Sue Hash, 34, Bloomfield, was arrested last Thursday, December 2, by Deputy Sgt. Jordan Allor of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.

Hash was on probation last Thursday afternoon when Greene County Community Corrections Officers Andrew Johnson and Chelsea Whaley and Greene County Probation Officer Patrick Hillenburg arrived at her apartment on Mechanic Street in Bloomfield for a home visit.

Officer Johnson reported that when Hash was asked if there were any drugs in the residence, she admitted there was a meth pipe in the cabinet under the bathroom sink. The pipe, with residue, was retrieved and it later field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

A deputy was requested and Sgt. Allor responded. When he arrived, Hash was in the apartment with the officers and her juvenile child.

When Sgt. Allor talked to Hash, she allegedly said she had not used any methamphetamine for a year, then when her husband started bringing it into the house, she gave in and used with him, saying she had just been using for about a week.

The Department of Child Services was called to the residence, and Hash was taken into custody.

She was booked in at 5:24 p.m. to the Greene County Jail where she was being held without bond pending court appearance.

In addition to probation violations, a new criminal case has been filed against her on charges of:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,

  • Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor, and

  • Neglect of a dependent – dependent placed in situation that endangers the dependent, a Level 6 felony.
