Bloomfield woman in jail facing drug charges

A Bloomfield woman stopped for speeding last Friday night ended up in jail on drug charges after a K-9 alerted to the presence of a controlled substance in her vehicle.

Antonette Allwyn Ambrosia

Antonette Allwyn Ambrosia, 30, Bloomfield, was arrested by Sgt. Jordan Allor of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department late last Friday night, June 25.

Ambrosia was the driver of a white 2004 Pontiac Sunfire that was pulled over by Sgt. Allor at the intersection of County Road 75 North and CR 1300 West in the Linton area for speeding around 9:30 last Friday night.

While Sgt. Allor was writing a speeding ticket, LPD Officers Alan Jackson and Joe Riley arrived on scene, along with K9 Kona. When K9 Kona was deployed to sniff around the vehicle, Kona alerted to the presence of a controlled substance inside the vehicle.

Sgt. Allor reported that during a search of the vehicle, Officer Riley found a clear plastic zip bag containing a white crystal substance in Ambrosia’s wallet. Inside a black bag behind the driver’s seat, he found a prescription bottle containing fungi and green plant material, a cardboard container with green plant material and two pills. Both pills were identified as two different controlled substances and the crystal substance field-tested positive as methamphetamine.

When questioned, Ambrosia allegedly said she didn’t know anything about the bag with the white crystal substance but admitted she uses marijuana occasionally. When asked if the fungi and green plant material belonged to her, she said she wanted to exercise her right to remain silent.

Ambrosia was booked into the Greene County Jail at 11 p.m. She was being held without bond pending court appearance.

Criminal charges filed against her include:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,

  • Possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor,

  • Possession of a controlled substance a Class A misdemeanor, and

  • Possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor.
