Bloomfield woman faces multiple alcohol-related charges following arrest
A 74-year-old Bloomfield woman is facing multiple alcohol-related charges after her Jan. 15 arrest.
Bloomfield Police Officer Bryan Lifford arrested Anna Kaye Mitchell on six charges following a traffic stop on North State Road 157.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Greene County Dispatch received reports of a white Jeep driving erratically. Officer Lifford located the vehicle and observed it swerving. He initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of North State Road 157 and Sand Road.
During the stop, Lifford reported that Mitchell displayed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, glassy eyes, and the odor of alcohol. When asked if she had been drinking, Mitchell allegedly admitted she had and suggested she could simply drive back home.
Lifford instructed Mitchell twice to turn off her vehicle and remove the keys from the ignition. As she exited the car, Lifford noted that she stumbled. When asked how much she had consumed, she reportedly said “three or four.”
Due to cold temperatures and snow-covered ground, Lifford transported Mitchell to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department to perform a Standardized Field Sobriety Test. According to the affidavit, Mitchell failed the test.
Sgt. Jordan Allor of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, a certified breath test operator, assisted Lifford with administering a breath test. The test indicated a blood alcohol concentration of .152.
Mitchell told officers she had been driving from the Worthington American Legion to the South Plaza in Bloomfield. She admitted she had been at the Legion for three hours and had consumed three shots of Fireball whiskey.
Mitchell is facing the following charges:
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor.
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person with a prior conviction within seven years, a Level 6 felony.
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor.
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction within seven years, a Level 6 felony.
Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15 or more, a Class A misdemeanor.
Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15 or more with a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony.
Mitchell was booked into the Greene County Jail. Her bond was set at $8,000 surety, with 10% cash allowed.
