Bloomfield woman arrested after domestic disturbance

A Bloomfield woman was arrested early today after police responded to a physical altercation in a residence where children were present.

Brittany Carol Kelly, 25, Bloomfield, was arrested by Deputy Marshal Brittany Ingram of the Bloomfield Police Department early today, Friday, January 22.

Around 12:50 a.m., Officer Ingram responded to a domestic dispute on Eastview Drive in Bloomfield. She was met by a man who said Kelly was intoxicated and had hit him in the face.

Kelly was in the doorway to the residence and when Officer Ingram approached, Kelly allegedly told her they had been in a physical altercation over messages on her phone.

BPD Lt. Marvin Holt also responded to the scene along with Deputy Alan Jackson of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.

Photographs were taken of injuries sustained by both individuals as well as some damage in the residence. Kelly sustained some redness and swelling on her arms that appeared to be handprints. The man had redness, swelling and lacerations on his face.

Both individuals admitted they had been drinking and were asked to submit to a portable breath test. Officer Ingram reported results showed the man had a BAC of .023 but Kelly had a BAC of .189.

Officer Ingram noted there were two children present in the residence when the altercation occurred. Greene County Department of Child Services (DCS) was contacted but the children remained in the home with the man.

Kelly was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail where she was booked in at 1:41 a.m. Her bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. As of late Friday, she had not yet posted bond.

Kelly is facing a preliminary charge of domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old, a Level 6 felony.
