Branden Shane Strauser, 36, Bloomfield, was arrested by Detective David Elmore of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday, September 1. Strauser was booked in around 12:40 p.m., his bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed, and he has since posted $400 and been released from jail.

This makes the third time Strauser has been arrested just since July 26 and he now has multiple criminal cases pending against him.

His latest arrest is a result of an investigation by Det. Elmore into the theft of a computer desk. The case was assigned to Det. Elmore in August after residents on East Hollars Road in the Bloomfield area said they had ordered a computer desk from Amazon but FedEx delivered it to a neighbor’s residence. Strauser was the neighbor.

One of the residents said they were outside in their garden when a FedEx truck came down the road and went to Strauser’s house. She could hear the driver talking with Strauser. The truck then left the area and they got a confirmation saying the package with their desk had been delivered to their front porch. But there was no package on their front porch. One of the residents went to Strauser’s residence but was not able to make contact with anyone. The residents said they didn’t want to press charges, they just wanted their desk.

Det. Elmore gathered evidence such as a copy of the order to Amazon, photos of the desk that was ordered, and a screenshot of the package delivery notification.

So this Tuesday, September 1, Det. Elmore arrived at Strauser’s residence along with GCSD Major George Dallaire, Det. Sgt. Shawn Cullison and Deputy Terry Wade. Strauser allegedly admitted he did have the desk inside his house and Det. Elmore was shown a brown box with a label that was a FedEx shipping label showing the name and address of the neighbor.

Strauser was taken into custody and he’s now facing a preliminary charge of theft where defendant has a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony.
