A Bloomfield man was in court today after he was arrested last Wednesday night. He’s charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving even though he’s an habitual traffic violator.

Timothy Robert Strickland, 36, Bloomfield, was arrested by Deputy Marshal Brittany Ingram of the Bloomfield Police Department last Wednesday night, August 5.

Strickland was the driver of a silver 2004 Toyota Tacoma on State Road 54 west of Bloomfield around 7:04 p.m. when he was stopped by Officer Ingram.

Officer Ingram reported Strickland showed signs of intoxication including slow and slurred speech, lack of coordination and his pupils were constricted.

Strickland refused to submit to testing so a blood draw was obtained by an EMT at the sheriff’s department. Results are pending.

Strickland was booked into the Greene County Jail around 9:55 p.m.

Earlier today, Tuesday, August 11, Strickland appeared in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing and was formally charged with:

• Operating a vehicle while being a habitual traffic offender, a Level 6 felony,

• Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor, and

• Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor.

Strickland’s bond was set at $14,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed, but he’s also being held on three Writs of Attachment with a bond of $2,500 cash only for all three.

As of Tuesday evening, he had not posted bond and was still in jail.
