A Bloomfield man was arrested last Thursday when police responded to an active domestic altercation. He allegedly admitted he kicked dents in a woman’s vehicle and shattered the windshield but denied battering the woman.

Richard Harold Walton, Jr., 34, Bloomfield, was arrested by Deputy Marshal Brittany Ingram of the Bloomfield Police Department last Thursday, August 20.

Officer Ingram was dispatched to an active domestic at a residence on Lincoln Drive in Bloomfield around 6:24 p.m. last Thursday. When she arrived, Walton was standing outside the house yelling at a woman who was on the back porch.

When Officer Ingram talked to Walton, he said he wanted to leave and allegedly admitted he hit the woman’s vehicle causing shoe print dents all the way around the vehicle and that he shattered the windshield, but he said the fight was verbal and did not get physical. He said if the woman had any marks, she must have hit herself.

When Officer Ingram talked to the woman inside the house, the woman said after a fight started, Walton took her phone out of her hands and hit her on the side of the head then threw her phone to the ground, shattering the screen. There were two children present during the altercation.

The officer reported Walton’s hands were cut up and he said that was from punching the vehicle multiple times. The woman had redness and swelling above her left ear.

Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy Zachary Goad assisted on the scene.

Walton was booked into the Greene County Jail at 7:11 p.m. His bond was set at $5,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $500 and was released the next day.

Walton is facing a preliminary charge of domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old, a Level 6 felony.
