Another new case filed against woman arrested for inhaling toxic vapors
Yet another new criminal case was filed yesterday against the Jasonville woman recently arrested for inhaling toxic vapors. Shortly before that incident occurred, she is accused of walking into a house where she didn't know anybody and nobody knew her.
Crystal Renee Overton, 35, Jasonville, is now facing a charge residential entry - breaking and entering into a dwelling, a Level 6 felony.
On the day of her arrest, March 9, Jasonville Police Chief Ryan Van Horn was dispatched to a residence on East McKinley St. in Jasonville where the two residents said an unknown white woman wearing a gray coat had just walked in their back door. The woman, later identified as Overton, allegedly said she was sorry, and she didn't know anybody that lived there.
One of the residents said she was carrying a plastic bag and when she left, she walked West on McKinley St. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate her.
Then a short while later, they were dispatched to the area behind a restaurant for an unresponsive female with a can of Endust in her hand that turned out to be Overton. She was arrested.
She matched the description given by the residents and later when they were interviewed separately and showed a lineup of photographs of different women, they both identified the photograph of Overton as the woman who had walked in their house.
When Van Horn attempted to interview Overton about the incident, she declined to speak to him.
Overton now has at least three criminal cases pending against her and she’s being held without bond.
