Altercation at ballpark leads to arrest
A woman reported a physical altercation with another woman occurred at a ballpark last Friday. The other woman was arrested and is facing a battery charge.
Jessica N. McCombs, 33, Sandborn, was arrested by Officer Adam King of the Linton Police Department as a result of Officer King’s investigation into an incident that occurred in Linton last Friday night, July 17. McCombs was booked in to the Greene County Jail around 1 a.m. on Sunday, July 19.
Officer King reported an altercation happened last Friday at the ballpark located on A Street NE. He took a report from a woman who said she was at the ballpark with her children and her ex-husband was supposed to take the children from there for the weekend, but he didn’t have enough seats for the children to safely ride in his vehicle. A verbal altercation between the woman and her ex-husband’s girlfriend, Jessica McCombs, ensued.
The woman allegedly said that while she was holding a child, McCombs grabbed her by the throat and pinned her against a vehicle. She said when she pushed McCombs away and said she was pregnant and wasn’t going to fight, McCombs said her face wasn’t pregnant. The officer reported the woman had a red mark on the side of her neck.
Officer King said during a later interview, McCombs said the woman knocked her sunglasses off but she denied touching the woman. During an interview with the ex-husband, he said he heard the two yelling but his back was turned and he did not see anyone get hit or pushed.
Bond for McCombs was set at $10,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $1,000 and was released.
McCombs is facing a preliminary charge of battery resulting in bodily injury to a pregnant woman, a Level 5 felony. Her initial hearing is set for Thursday, July 30.
