A man with a previous conviction for theft, arrested on Tuesday, is going to be charged with felony theft for allegedly trying to steal a package of Gorilla Glue worth $4.84.  

Larry Joe Scank, 42, of Jasonville, was arrested on Tuesday, August 27, by Sgt. Brian Pilant of the Jasonville Police Department on a warrant that was issued after an investigation by Officer John Agan of the Linton Police Department.

Officer Agan responded to the Walmart store in Linton around 6 p.m. on Monday, August 19, after an asset protection associate from the store reported a man had been caught shoplifting.

One of the employees told the officer that he saw Scank select a package of Gorilla Super Glue, conceal it on himself then pass all points of sale and attempt to exit the store with paying. The store was able to provide a DVD of a video surveillance recording that Officer Agan said was consistent with what the employees said happened.

Officer Agan reported that when he talked to Scank, Scank admitted he concealed the glue and attempted to leave the store.

The total value of the item was $4.84.

Agan reported that Scank’s record shows he has a prior conviction for theft.

A criminal case was filed against Scank on Monday, August 26. On Tuesday, August 27, a warrant was issued for his arrest. By 7 p.m., Scank was in custody and being booked in to the Greene County Jail where his bond was set at $5,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $500 cash and was released the same night.

Scank is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing on Monday, September 9, when he will be charged with theft, a Class A misdemeanor, and theft with a prior conviction for theft, a Level 6 felony.
