Ren Barton was served a warrant for invasion of privacy, a Class A Misdemeanor.

On Sept, 15, Greene County Dispatch received a call from a female reporting Barton had been calling her from jail while she had an active no contact order in place. According to a probable cause affidavit, a phone log provided from the Greene County Jail showed Barton attempted to contact the female three times.

Deputy Caleb Sipes of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department contacted the female to conduct and interview. She told the deputy that she received calls from the Greene County Jail with the automated message stating the call was from Barton. She did not accept the calls, rather she hung up. Deputy Sipes concluded the interview. After the interview, the female contacted Deputy Sipes saying she had been receiving text messages from Barton’s mom and sister.

An initial hearing was held Sept. 27 in Greene Superior Court in which Barton attended via two way video. His bond was set at $1,000 surety with 10 percent allowed.
