A 42-year-old Linton man is facing charges of invasion of privacy and battery following an incident that occurred on April 22. 

William Joe Rose was arrested by Greene County Sheriff’s Department (GCSD) Deputy Andrew Weeks. 

When Deputy Weeks arrived at a 960 North County Road address in Linton, he was met on the scene by Bobby Pierce of the Linton Police Department. According to the caller, Rose had arrived at the residence under the influence of alcohol and unruly. According to the probable cause affidavit written by Weeks, Rose had left the residence in a gold Ford Ranger. 

A witness told officers he was working on the caller’s car while she wasn’t home when Rose walked into the home – one in which he had been trespassed from in January 2023 via a protective order – asking where the caller and her child were. The witness told Rose to leave; however, approximately two to three hours later, according to the probable cause affidavit, he returned to the residence. The witness alleged Rose was squealing his tires down the road so they went inside the residence as they had been outside around a fire. 

The witness alleged Rose went after him and grabbed him forcefully as if he was trying to put him on the ground. He alleged this occurred two or three times before Rose went back to his truck. Rose attempted to get back into the house but the witness got in between him and the door and told him to leave. The witness alleged after several attempts, he was able to get Rose to leave. 

The caller stated Rose had sent two people to the residence to pick up her child, but she did not allow that as both individuals were under the influence of alcohol. According to the probable cause affidavit, approximately 10 minutes later, Rose arrived at the residence, cursing and running through her house. She alleged Rose was grabbing at the witness while the witness was telling him to stop. 

When speaking with Rose at his residence later, Rose alleged he went to the residence because his wife would not bring his son home even though he has full custody. He told officers when he went to the residence, things went south. He denied knowledge of the protective order. 

Rose was transported to Greene County Jail where he was being held without bond until his initial court hearing.
