Frank R. “Sonny” Allen 73, of Bloomfield, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton surrounded by family. Born December 3, 1944 in Bedford, he was the son of Frank Sr. and Dorothy M. (Gilstrap) Allen.

Sonny was a machine operator for Resler Block Company and Jones & Sons for over 30 years. He was a member of the Antioch Christian Church, SAL in Bloomfield Post #196, ABATE, an avid drag racer and a fan of all forms of racing. He also enjoyed riding his Harley.

Surviving relatives include: his life partner, Dee Haywood of Bloomfield; one son, Jay Allen (Heather); one daughter, Crystal Robinette (Lucas Gechtman); his grandchildren, Natasha Cliver (Jeff), Austyn Allen, Brittany Allen, Jessica Nelson, Jordan McDonald, Adia Robinette and X-Zander Gechtman; great grandchildren, Colson Allbright and Brodey Allbright; siblings, Richard Gilstrap (Susie) of Bloomington, Norma Jean Stafford of Bloomington, Bruce Allen (Cheryl) of Bloomington, Nancy Johnson of Bloomfield, Sarah Stalcup (Rodney) of Bloomfield, Robert Allen (Sue) of Florida, Gerald Allen (Sharon) of Campbellsburg, Kent Allen (Lavonna) of Ellettsville and Chris Allen (Janet) of Bedford.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Allen and Stephen Allen, two brothers-in-law, Marvin Johnson and James Stafford, two sisters-in-law, Darnella Gilstrap and Jenny Allen and his parents.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Antioch Cemetery in rural Bloomfield. Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the children’s charity of the donor’s choice.
