Dale Hannum

Dale Austin Hannum, 95, of Worthington, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018 in Franklin, Indiana at the Indiana Masonic Home.  Dale was born on September 1, 1922 in Point Commerce, Indiana to Clyde Henry and Elizabeth "Dessie" (McClarren) Hannum.

Dale graduated from Worthington High School in 1941 and received his Bachelors Degree from Indiana Business College in Indianapolis.  He served in administration at Camp Atterbury during World War II. 

Dale was a long standing member of the Folsom Memorial Methodist Church and served on the Board of Directors for the Worthington Public Library.

Dale retired from Conrail (formerly Pennsylvania Railroad)-Southeastern Division in 1983. Dale was a 53 year member of the Greene County Lodge #577 F&AM (now affiliated with Bloomfield  Lodge #84 F&AM).

Dale was known for bringing smiles to children by playing Santa Claus in Worthington for over 40 years.  He was a proper gentleman and was loved by all his family.

Dale is survived by his sister, Mary Jo York, of Greenwood, nieces and nephews, Donna Mae Deckard of Bloomington, Paul (Dottie) Hoagland of Tacoma, Washington, Robert (Jacque) Hannum of Bloomington, Judy Dell (Don) Wurz of Indianapolis, Jim Tomlin of Rossville, Georgia, Helen Jo Carter of Phoenix, Arizona, Martha Horsely of Florida, Rea Kay (Steve) Dunlap of Fort Wayne, Don (Amy) Heckman of Anderson, Marc York of Indianapolis, Susan (Tim) Ramsey of Martinsville, and several great-nieces and nephews.

Dale was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Lowell (Bertha) Hannum, Helen (Eph) Hoagland, Max (Edith) Hannum, Lawrence (Juanita) Hannum, Irma Dell (Fred) Schroeder, Allen York, nieces and nephews, Janice Hoagland, Sharon Abbott, Jerry Hannum, nephews-in-law, Richard Deckard, Lynn Carter, Skip Horsely, Wayne Abbott, great-nephews, Dennis Deckard, Darren Hoagland, Johnny Wurz, and Robert David Hannum.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington.  Pastor Mel Camp will officiate.  Burial will follow in Worthington Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with Masonic service at 7:00 PM, Friday, August 24, 2018 and again Saturday 9:00 AM until the time of service, all at the funeral home.
