Justus Kirk Wright, 40, is wanted in Sullivan County. He was arrested in May on a preliminary charge of dealing methamphetamine as a Level 2 felony. The jail log listed him with a home address in Linton. He paid $7,400 cash to bond out, then didn’t show up in court for his initial hearing.

Wright was arrested in Sullivan in the wee hours of Friday, May 4.

Sullivan County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeffrey Kinnett was on duty in his patrol vehicle, sitting stationary in the 400 block of South Main St. when Wright passed by him in a black 1999 Dodge Ram pickup truck around 1:40 a.m.

In the narrative written by Deputy Kinnett in the incident report, the deputy said Wright’s license plate was not illuminated. The lights were both unhooked from the bumper and dangling underneath the truck. So the officer followed and initiated a traffic stop in the area of Court and Johnson streets.

The deputy said Wright seemed nervous and so did his passenger, Sheri Lynn Fiscus, 37, who turned out to be wanted in Vanderburgh County. She was taken into custody.

Other officers arrived to assist, including SCSD Deputy Eric Valdez and Indiana State Police Trooper Ian Portteus along with his K9 partner Czar. When Portteus and K9 Czar walked around the truck, K9 Czar alerted.

Deputy Kinnett reported that during a search of the truck, officers located a substance that field-tested positive as methamphetamine, pills and a set of scales.

Wright was also reported to be in possession of a large amount of money in various denominations from one dollar bills up to one hundred dollar bills.

All items seized were placed into evidence including the money and the methamphetamine which weighed 39 grams.

Wright was booked into the Sullivan County Jail where his bond was set at $74,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed.

Wright opted to pay the ten percent and court records show he wrote a check for $7,400 then was released.

Preliminary charges filed against Wright include:

  • Dealing in methamphetamine, a Level 2 felony,
  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 3 felony, and
  • Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

He would have been formally charged during his initial hearing, scheduled in Sullivan Superior Court at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 18, but he failed to appear.

Superior Court Judge Hugh R. Hunt ordered a warrant issued for Wright’s arrest.

The judge specified that when Wright is taken into custody, his bond will be set at $74,000 cash in full only, with no ten percent allowed.

Wright’s criminal history shows he’s had previous felony cases filed against him in Vigo County, Sullivan County and Greene County, dating back to 2012.

Wright’s whereabouts are unknown. The Sullivan County court record for this case shows him with a home address on 8th Street SE in Linton.
